Themes

Built-in themes, light and dark switching, and custom color tokens.

Themes color flockr's own UI: the sidebar, tab bar, borders, and overlays. The programs in your panes keep their own colors.

Pick a theme

[theme]
name = "tokyo-night"

Or pick one in the appearance section of the settings screen (prefix+s). The default is catppuccin.

Built-in themes

There is also terminal. Some aliases work too, for example catppuccin-mocha, tokyonight, onedark, rosepine, and latte.

Follow light and dark mode

flockr can follow your host terminal's light or dark appearance and switch themes with it:

[theme]
auto_switch = true
dark_name = "catppuccin"
light_name = "catppuccin-latte"

With auto_switch = false (the default), flockr uses name and ignores the other two.

Override colors

Override single color tokens on top of the base theme in [theme.custom]:

[theme.custom]
sidebar_bg = "#181825"
active_row_bg = "#1e1e2e"
selection_bg = "#313244"
panel_bg = "reset"
accent = "#f5c2e7"
red = "#ff6188"
green = "#a6e3a1"

Colors accept:

  • hex: #rrggbb or #rgb
  • rgb(r,g,b)
  • named colors such as red, cyan, magenta, gray, or lightblue
  • "reset", which uses the terminal's default color (useful for panel_bg on a transparent terminal)

Color tokens

[theme.custom] takes these tokens: accent, panel_bg, sidebar_bg, active_row_bg, selection_bg, surface0, surface1, surface_dim, overlay0, overlay1, text, subtext0, mauve, green, yellow, red, blue, teal, and peach.

Agent states use these tokens:

idlegreen

Overrides per appearance

With auto_switch = true, you can layer overrides that apply only in light or dark mode. They take the same tokens:

[theme.custom.light]
panel_bg = "#eff1f5"
text = "#4c4f69"

[theme.custom.dark]
panel_bg = "#1e1e2e"
text = "#cdd6f4"

UI accent

ui.accent (default "cyan") also sets the accent color for highlights, borders, and navigation UI. It takes the same color formats.
