Quick start

Launch flockr, learn the prefix key and the first keys, and install an agent integration.

First launch

Run flockr in any terminal:

flockr

This starts the flockr server and attaches to your persistent session. If a session is already running, it attaches to it.

On first run flockr shows a welcome screen. Press enter to continue. The mouse works throughout: click the sidebar to switch spaces, drag pane borders to resize, and right-click for context menus. The onboarding key in the config controls whether this screen shows on startup.

The prefix key

The prefix key is ctrl+b, as in tmux. Press it, release it, then press the action key. In these docs, prefix+v means ctrl+b then v.

A few keys work without the prefix, such as alt+1..9 to jump to an agent.

Keys you need first

KeysWhat it does
prefix+?Show every key
prefix+sSettings
prefix+:Command palette: search every action
prefix+aJump to the next agent that needs you
prefix+v, prefix+minusSplit right, split down
prefix+h/j/k/lMove focus left, down, up, right
prefix+cNew tab
prefix+shift+nNew space
prefix+spaceCycle layout presets
prefix+fOpen or copy a link on screen
alt+1..9, alt+shift+1..9Jump to an agent, jump to a space
prefix+qDetach (the session keeps running)

The full list is in the Key reference.

Install an agent integration

flockr reads agent state from the screen. An integration adds a hook or plugin to the agent so it also reports to flockr directly. Install one for each agent you use:

flockr integration install claude

Other targets include codex, pi, and opencode. See Integrations for the full list. Check what is installed with:

flockr integration status

Start an agent

  1. Split a pane with prefix+v.
  2. Start your agent in the new pane as you normally would, for example claude or codex.
  3. The agent shows up in the sidebar with its state: working, blocked, done, or idle.

When an agent finishes or needs input, press prefix+a to go to it.

Detach and attach

prefix+q detaches your terminal. The server keeps running with all panes and agents. Run flockr again to attach.

Settings

Settings live in ~/.config/flockr/config.toml. The settings screen (prefix+s) covers the common ones, and flockr --default-config prints every option with its documentation. See Settings.
